Katmai National Park Bear Viewing, Whale Watching, & More!
Summer has arrived along with the 10,0000 migrating seabirds landing on our beaches to feed and then move onto their migration. The sandhill cranes have started having their colts. We have been watching the baby moose with their mom’s popping up in all the green fields. Our pilots have been taking clients to view the brown bears in Katmai daily. Our clients have come back to share the beauty and grandeur of the flight. Being able to see Mount Augustine from the air, then landing and sitting in the most remote land to watch bears in their natural habitat, is a bucket list adventure for most! We absolutely love to see photos from our clients adventures and hear how much they enjoyed their trip!
In 2020 we got to meet Mike Scherback, a plane mechanic who was laid off due to the pandemic. Mike decided this was his opportunity to jump head first into his lifelong interest of photography. Homer was his choice to begin this new endeavor. He came to Homer and met Lindsey and Mika who run the Homer Spit Rv and Campground. This fabulous couple set Mike up with a tent site for the summer. With all the shower and laundry available to him. Mike started making friends including our office mascot Kona. Once in the Inlet office Mike started asking about the area. We offered local self-guided hikes to beaches in the area. That lead into Mike going on many Marine Wild Life Tours and bear viewing adventures. Making lifelong friends. You can check out Mike’s Instagram @SherbackExperience to see some of the photos from his adventures. Here are some of his bear & Marine Wild life photos he took while in Homer.
Best of luck, Mike!
